United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., (USRN) an independent leader in the creation and marketing of network radio programming, is excited to announce that its weekly Country Music program called SERVING YOUR COUNTRY that mixes the Contemporary Country format with coverage of the activities in the realm of the U.S. military has been added to the Country Programming stream of the American Forces Network. SERVING YOUR COUNTRY is a music-intensive, 2-hour weekly program anchored by the award-winning morning man from WUSN/Chicago (US-99.5), Ray Stevens, also known as “Ramblin’ Ray.” The announcement came from USRN’s EVP/Programming, Andy Denemark at the company’s headquarters in New York City.
Serving Your Country is an in-house creation at United Stations and the program is unique in the landscape of network radio. When launched in 2013, the show was the first program created for commercial, over-the-air radio stations to be centered on news, interviews, commentary, stories and listener interaction revolving around the everyday heroes who make up our nation’s military personnel. Perhaps no other format on the radio dial does more promotionally as well as in charity efforts tied into supporting our troops than the Country format, and Serving Your Country spotlights all manner of heroic activities. Since its inception, every major Country recording artist on the charts today has contributed commentary to the program, and listeners can participate in the show via a toll-free number and the show’s online presence at both www.ServingYourCountry.us and the show’s Facebook page. Additionally, singer-songwriter Laura Bryna who has extensive experience providing entertainment and moral support for our troops and their families acts as the military correspondent on the show. Bryna acts as a celebrity spokesperson for the U.S. Air National Guard and The National Guard Youth Foundation. The American Forces Network (AFN), also known as the American Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS), is part of the Department of Defense (DoD), and its mission is to communicate DoD policies, priorities, programs, goals and initiatives. Their auspices include the Radio and Television Production Office, and the AFN Broadcast Center. The AFRTS vision is to provide “a touch of home” through multi-channel broadcast quality radio and television services and expanded internal information products to all DoD members and their families stationed overseas, on contingency operations, and onboard Navy ships around the world. Today, AFRTS uses seven satellites along with digital compression technology and the internet to reach its audiences in more than 177 countries, U.S. territories, and U.S. Navy ships afloat.
