Cancer affects the whole family… It was such an honor to sing for all the patients, families, doctors, nurses, and staff of The Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland. I know music can be very healing to the soul and I hope that I was able to put a smile on their faces.
Mid-Shores Top Stations 33rd Annual Country Music Showdown & Salute to our troops. Laura performed the National Anthem and “The House I Live In” to honor WWII veteran Jack C. Hallman. The showdown was a competition for area bands. There was a flag folding and presentation from Veterans Recognition Committee, Warren Elliott CEO of Wounded In Action Family Foundation & Annin Flag Rep along with Color Guard and Laura. The event was held at Harrington Raceway and Casino on Saturday June 7th at 6pm.
Laura Bryna was contacted by Ellijay’s Veterans Memorial Bridge and Gardens to request her song “Hometown Heroes” be played during the ceremony this Memorial Day. “What an honor to be contacted for such as special event, it is very special to me that they have requested to play my song, I wish I could be there myself.” says Laura.
On Memorial Day, the founder of Ellijay’s Veterans Memorial Bridge and Garden wants people to stop and think about how much has been sacrificed by American troops who fought and died for their country. This will be the sixth year that Sandy Lyons has presented an honorary Memorial Day service at his ever growing tribute to American veterans adjacent to the Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds. The service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, and should last till around noon. Lyons said everybody is welcome to come early for patriotic music or to have a look at the many engraved marble and paver tributes at the veterans garden site. “We will start early at 10:25 (a.m.) to get people in the proper spiritual mind of what we’re doing,” said Lyons. “I want folks to come see what our country was founded on and I’d like them to read the documentation we have here. ”Representatives from various military branches and community groups will assist with the event. Lyons said local Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, as well as members of the North Georgia Honor Guard, American Legion Post 82 and the Civil Air Patrol’s 507th composite squadron are among those expected to participate. Grammy – nominated singer Laura Bryna will be performing the American National Anthem and the Israeli National Anthem at Partners Through Time: Finale Gala at the Met, on May 20th 2014.
Bryna’s performance at the finale gala will conclude The Global Gathering beginning May 18th. The gathering consists of presentations by a stellar roster of Weizmann scientists, exclusive private events at iconic New York City venues, and a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the American Committee and the community of International Committees.
The essential partnership between science and philanthropy takes center stage at the Gathering’s finale event at the incomparable Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sunday night, a select group of jazz lovers were treated to the debut of recording artist Laura Bryna’s forway into jazz with an intimate performace at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz. While playing to the packed house which included the legendary Tom Jones in the crowd, Bryna was also named honorary co-national spokesperson for the WIAFF for her exceptional philanthropic work with the military to round out the exciting evening. During her Performance at Vibrato Grill Jazz on Sunday 12th January
Renowned singer/songwriter and military philanthropist, Laura Bryna was named the new co-national spokesperson for the Wounded in Action Family Foundation (WIAFF). WIAFF’s CEO Warren Elliott made the announcement during Laura’s stellar jazz performance at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz on Sunday 12th January. To commemorate the occasion, Annin Flags, this country’s oldest flag manufacturer and supporter of the WIAFF, presented Laura with the American flag which was flown on the US Army base in Afghanistan on September 11 2011.
”I am so excited and honored to be the co-national spokesperson for the Wounded In Action Family Foundation” said Laura of the announcement. “According to some reports, there are approximately 1.2 million of our military in harm’s way throughout the world keeping us safe so we can live our lives in freedom and fulfill our dreams. They sacrifice time away from their families, risk their lives, and if wounded, spend untold amounts of time rehabilitating in hospitals around the world.”
“We cannot abandon these brave men and women in their time of need. Our help and the type of support offered by the WIAFF afford these brave men and women and their families the financial assistance they need to transition back into civilian life.”
Laura’s performance at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz was the first to showcase her new, jazzier musical style. She performed jazz classics such as “Big Spender”, “Man of the Hour” and “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” to a full house of jazz enthusiasts including the legendary Tom Jones! As part of her collaboration with WIAFF, Laura will be performing this set in a series of shows at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas in early 2014.
Joining her last night and for her Vegas residency, will be her band of seasoned instrumentalists, who collectively, have worked with all of today’s superstars! Loren Gold will take the lead as Musical Director and Pianist. Gold currently works with artists such as The Who, Roger Daltrey, and Kenny Logins and has worked as Musical Director and consultant for young artists such as Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff. On Drums we have Randy Cook who most recently toured with Ringo Starr, Five For Fighting, Mick Jagger, Selena Gomez, and Kelly Clarkson. And on Percussion is one of modern music’s most accomplished percussionists Ramon Yslas. Electric and Acoustic Jazz guitar is played by Andrew Doolittle, who has toured with Patti Page, Rita Wilson, Katrina Carlson, The Houston Symphony Orchestra and many other great Jazz artists both on their live tours and on their musical CD projects. Eric Holden on Electric and Stand Up Acoustic Bass, has worked with Platinum artists Shakira, Josh Groban, Vertical Horizon and Five For Fighting. Last but not least, Donald Hayes on the Saxophone, Clarinet and other Wind Instruments. Hayes has played or recorded with artists including; Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Philip Bailey, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, James Brown, Jamie Foxx, Black Eye Peas, Chaka Kahn, and Queen Latifah.
Presented by Bullets 4 Peace, The Art of Peace Event will be the kick-off of a series of events around the U.S set to raise awareness and funds for the Sheriff’s Department Program Gift for Guns.
