Country Music Recording Artist Laura Bryna, an owner of three pet birds, was featured in BIRD TALK Magazine back in May 2006. Laura’s pet birds are Tyler, aCongo African grey; Harmony, a Senegal parrot; and Snuggles, a lesser sulphur-crested cockatoo. Laura’s debut album, “Trying to Be Me,” was released in 2008. The singer then went on to tour as the opening act for Clint Black, and shared the stage with country greats including Sugarland, Tim McGraw and Carrie Underwood.
In addition to her music, Laura has been spreading her wings with lots of interesting projects. She is the voice and face of the Air National Guard, and her “Hometown Heroes” song has become the rallying cry for this branch of the U.S. Military. She is also a host of “True Country,” where she interviews Nashville’s brightest stars for weekly webisodes, and she is a spokesperson for the National Guard Youth Foundation.
With Laura’s career flying high, she and the birds are going Hollywood! This means an end-of-summer move from Nashville to Los Angeles. To make this happen, Bryna will be driving cross-country with her father, Mt. Airy, MD-based Tommy Mulitz, and the three feathered passengers in tow.
Laura and her dad will be driving a Jeep Liberty and leaving Nashville on Tuesday, August 24, scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles on Monday, August 30, 2010.
Laura has purchased Wingabago travel carriers, and to stave off the dreaded kid question, “Are we there yet?” Laura and her dad plan to take Tyler, Snuggles and Harmony to fun stops along the way. Laura will play games and entertain her birds with songs (“California, Here We Come” anybody?).
Once in LA, Laura and her pet birds will be moving into her newly renovated house on Mount Olympus, in the Hollywood Hills area. There, she has a 20-foot by 26-foot bird room set up, with special carpet and wall colors the three pet birds are sure to enjoy. As Laura wants her birds to experience the entire house, hand-carved playstands will be in various rooms, including the pool area.
